Health, Safety & Legal Disclaimer

Last updated: August 5, 2026

This page applies to everything on HomeBrewHub — recipes, calculators, books, style guides, and any current or future AI-assisted feature. Please read it before you brew, ferment, or distill anything based on content from this Site.

Educational content, not a safety guarantee

Everything here is written to help you learn and plan — it is not a promise that a specific recipe, calculation, or piece of guidance is correct, complete, or safe for your specific situation. Fermentation and brewing are biological, variable processes. Your ingredients, equipment, sanitation, and environment are different from ours, and outcomes vary. Always use your own senses and judgment, and when something seems off, don't consume it.

Sealed containers and carbonation Bottling or sealing a fermented product too early, or with too much residual sugar, can cause excess carbonation and container failure ("bottle bombs"), which can cause injury. Follow priming/carbonation guidance carefully and never seal a container you believe is still actively fermenting.

Alcohol production and your local laws

Rules about home fermentation and brewing of beer, wine, mead, and cider vary by country, state/province, and sometimes city, and they change over time. It's your responsibility — not HomeBrewHub's — to check and follow the laws that apply to you before you start.

Distilling spirits at home In many places — including at the federal level in the United States — distilling spirits at home is illegal without the appropriate license, even for personal, non-commercial use. Penalties can be serious. HomeBrewHub's distilling-related content (including any future AI-assisted instrument-reading features) is provided for education about the science involved and is not an endorsement or instruction to distill where it is not legally permitted. Confirm what's legal where you live before doing anything covered in this content, and consider that in some places distilling is legal with the right permit or license — it is on you to obtain one if required.

AI-assisted features

Where HomeBrewHub offers AI-assisted tools (for example, tools that read a value off an instrument from a photo), these tools are designed to help extract or estimate factual data — not to judge whether something is safe to consume, or to give you instructions on regulated activities like distilling technique. AI outputs can be inaccurate. Always double-check important readings yourself, and never rely on an AI tool as your sole basis for a safety decision.

Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal minimum age required in your jurisdiction if higher (for example, 21 in the United States), to purchase, produce, or consume alcohol, and to use alcohol-related content on this Site.

No liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, HomeBrewHub and its founder aren't responsible for any illness, injury, property damage, legal trouble, or other loss that results from using information on this Site or from anything you make using it. Use this Site's content at your own risk and your own responsibility.
